Neighborhood Spotlight: Highland Bridge, Saint Paul

This month our neighborhood spotlight is focusing on an entirely new neighborhood that is being constructed in Saint Paul! The Highland Bridge project spans over 100 acres just south of Highland Park, in the area that was formerly home to Ford Motor Company’s Twin Cities assembly plant.

Highland Bridge will consist of a multitude of structures and properties, from condos, custom homes, affordable housing (a minimum of 20% of properties will be affordable housing), senior living, and rowhomes, people will have access to a variety of residential options if they’re looking to call Highland Bridge home.

Another pillar of the project is sustainability! From the information that’s available to the public, they’re planning to add some pretty cool features to the entire community. Their website claims that the electricity throughout Highland Bridge will be available from 100 percent carbon free and renewable sources and the Twin Cities’ largest urban solar array.

Other notable sustainability efforts include:
*The stormwater in Highland Bridge will be collected for onsite treatment including the creative reuse of stormwater in the project's central water feature.
*More than a thousand trees will be planted throughout the community.
*A minimum of one hundred electric vehicle charging stations will be added to the vertical developments of the site.

Overall we are interested to see how this large project unfolds, and hope that it does bring the promises of sustainability and more quality, affordable housing to the area.
