Your Guide To Spring Events in the Twin Cities

Posted by VIBE Realty on Wednesday, April 13th, 2022 at 1:09pm.

While we still seem to be stuck between winter and spring, the sunshine, green grass and warmer weather will be in full-swing before we know it! And, with the warmer temps comes an abundance of spring activities around the Twin Cities. We compiled a comprehensive list of some of our favorite spring events - check them out below!

Art in Bloom 2022

Art in Bloom, the annual celebration of art and flowers, presented by the Friends of the Institute, will take place April 28 - May 1, 2022. This year’s event will be held in person and is free and open to the public! Art in Bloom exhibits imaginative floral interpretations of selected works of art from MIA’s permanent collection, created by more than 100 individual and commercial florists.

MayDay Parade in South Minneapolis

MayDay Season 2022 will look different than MayDays past! There will not be a parade this year and instead there will be a cultural and political festival in the form of a block party. This year the block party will include performances, art, activities, food, and more! The festival will take place May 1 from 1-4pm

Art-a-Whirl

Art-A-Whirl is the largest open studio tour in the country, which happens annually throughout Northeast Minneapolis the third weekend of May. Over 1,000 NEMAA member artists, galleries, and businesses participate across all of Northeast Minneapolis at over 60 locations. Art-A-Whirl is a fantastic way to connect with artists in their own spaces, enjoy demonstrations and interactive activities, listen to live music, and enjoy local restaurants and breweries. Art-A-Whirl is free and open to the public.

Minneapolis Arbor Day Festival

Celebrate trees during an Arbor Day street festival on Friday, April 29, 2022! Help plant trees on the freshly repaved North 3rd Street, participate in a variety of tree-themed activities and enjoy tree-themed beer and live music. This event is free and open to all ages.

Farmers Markets

Spring marks the official start of farmers market season! Stay up-to-date on the latest farmers market locations and news by visiting Minnesota Grown.

Flower and Landscape Shows

The Landscape Arboretum and the Como Zoo & Conservatory put on absolutely incredible displays - whether you want inspiration for your own yard, or just to take in all the beauty, we can’t recommend this enough!

Apple Blossom Drives

While we typically think apple orchards are a fall activity here in the Midwest, they can also be a great springtime activity, too! Apple trees flower in the spring and make a gorgeous sight to see. Explore MN has mapped out the best route - take a day trip and cruise around the southeastern portion of the state!

Sculpture Garden

Take a stroll through an open grass area with more than 40 art pieces in the Walker Art Center’s Sculpture Garden. If you have never taken a photo with the iconic Spoonbridge and cherry are you truly a Minnesotan?

MN Lynx Home Opener

On May 8th at the Target Center the Minnesota Lynx will start off their season at home vs. the Washington Mystics. Grab a ticket and cheer them on!

Professional Soccer

Plan a day to experience the beautiful Allianz field in Saint Paul’s Hamline-Midway neighborhood this spring to watch the MN United. Or check out Minnesota’s newest league - the MN Aurora, a community-owned women’s soccer team.

Professional Baseball

Check out the Minnesota Twins at Target Field, or our local minor league team the Saint Paul Saints at their stadium in Lowertown, Saint Paul (CHS field). Both stadiums are incredible and offer great views of the city.
