In these unprecedented times, we’re thinking of you and your family and hoping you’re able to stay home and stay safe. If you’re an ‘essential needs’ worker, we’re especially grateful for your service and hope you’re equipped with everything you need to keep yourself as safe as possible.
As you’re probably aware, real estate was deemed a “critical sector” in Governor Walz’ March 25 “Stay at Home” order. And, as real estate professionals, we know first-hand how vital housing is to our community and feel a sacred duty to be champions for those with critical housing needs. However, we believe the spirit of the governor’s order was to prevent additional hardship on already hard-hit Minnesotans to not prevent them from being able to secure housing or put their current housing situation in jeopardy. His order was not intended as license to conduct “business as usual” and disregard the strict social distancing guidelines health experts are advising.
We did the math - conducting showings, especially of occupied properties, is a high-risk activity that exposes agents, homeowners, buyers, photographers, inspectors, appraisers and a slew of related professionals - and all of their families - to what amounts to thousands of unnecessary contacts with others. At this critical moment in this public health crisis when, over the next couple weeks, the amount of asymptomatic carriers of COVID-19 is expected to peak, we believe we have a duty to do everything we can to limit the spread of this deadly virus.
Therefore, we have asked our agents and clients to suspend ALL in-person showings for one more week. If we can just hang tight right now, together we can help Minnesota get beyond the curve and resume our critical work with enhanced safety precautions on the other side of the peak.
We are so proud of our team of agents who understand that this is a moment that calls on us to put the needs of the community over our own livelihoods. We are still available for phone or video meetings to help serve you and prepare for your home search or to get your listing on track for when we can lift this restriction on showings.
