The market is changing, but not in all the ways you might think. Inventory remains very low, as do interest rates. Check out the reports below to get the latest scoop on today’s market.

Listings - How Many Are There?

Things are changing on a daily basis, which is why it’s important to stay up to speed on market inventory, and what’s happening in the listing world. The graph above shows the trend of listings since March, 1st. Just looking at the peaks throughout each week, you can see there has been an overall decline of homes to hit the market, especially when compared to 2019’s numbers. We will know more tomorrow when 4/17’s numbers are in, but it appears that this…

As you’re probably aware, real estate was deemed a “critical sector” in Governor Walz’ March 25 “Stay at Home” order. And, as real estate professionals, we know first-hand how vital housing is to our community and feel a sacred duty to be champions for those with critical housing needs. However, we believe the spirit of the governor’s order was to prevent additional hardship on already hard-hit Minnesotans to not prevent them from being able to…

During my five-plus years in real estate, I have had the good fortune of not having to work through a significant economic downturn. One thing I get all of the time is, "boy, it must be a great time to be working in real estate". While I do tend to agree with that statement, it's mainly because I simply love what I do. The reality, when it comes to the market, is that I would welcome a more balanced market with open arms. Yes, houses are selling for more money than they have in the past, and it's a wonderful phone call to make when I get to tell my seller when they have a line of people waiting to pay over asking price for their home. But the reality for all but one of those buyers in line? Another…

We're officially riding out the first quarter of 2020, and with a new year under our belts, we're wondering what that could mean for the real estate market. With this year being a year for a strong job market (unemployment is at a 50-year low) and mortgage interest rates also hitting an all-time low (well below historical norms), we’re thinking this could bring us some sustainability. According to The Washington Post, experts are predicting that the market will move sideways rather than up or down - resulting in a moderate growth rate. While a strong job market and low interest rates can result in sustainable real estate, there is a scarcity in housing not only in Minnesota, but also across the nation as a whole, giving us limited inventory for 2020.…

Everyone knows timing is everything. Increasingly, fall is emerging as the best time to buy a house. There have been more than 32 million home sales since 2000 and it’s been found that buyers get the very best price in October. Rule of thumb that everyone seems to be familiar with though, is that Spring is typically the notorious time to buy a home. And while history has always seemed to favor that scenario, it seems that autumn has undeniable factors that just may contribute to the timing of your big purchase. The best time to buy a home is when market conditions are preferable, competition is low, and interest rates are on the decline. Here are a few expert insights as to why you should consider possibly investing in real estate this time of year.
