Neighborhood Series: North Saint Paul

North Saint Paul is a distinct area (considered more of its own city than a neighborhood) located Northeast of downtown Saint Paul, and has great historical context and charm. The structures are older, including a downtown stretch of storefront with a six block long Main Street. Silver Lake and Casey Lake are the area’s largest bodies of water and both have adjacent parks great for a weekend stroll. Being a historical spot, North Saint Paul boasts the oldest continuously operating bar in Minnesota, Neumann's Bar, highlighted below. Neumann’s Bar

Head to Neumann’s bar for a blast to the past, located in the historic downtown area. They opened for business in 1887, and have continuously operated as an establishment serving ever since. They even pulled through during Prohibition and opened a speakeasy upstairs. Visitors can still go upstairs and see the keyhole door used to screen entrants, and the old telephone that was connected to the downstairs bar so that messages could be passed back and forth.

Village Pizza

Village Pizza is a true mom and pop stop that has been serving pizza and delivery services to North Saint Paul since 1959. Silver Lake

Silver Lake Park is located south of I-694 along Century Avenue and resides on land originally purchased by Captain Henry Castle in 1872. It is a regional destination park in the neighborhood with a swimming beach, fishing pier and playground.

Casey Lake Park

The vast 33-acre Casey Lake Park is coined as the crown jewel of the North Saint Paul parks system. With updated construction in 2016, there is now an indoor park facility and renovation to the adjacent Booya Building and picnic shelter. With adjacent baseball fields, hockey rink, biking and walking trails, there is plenty to do at Casey Lake Park.
