Home Inspiration: A Floating Office Desk
We've been in our home for almost a year and a half -- yikes!!!! -- and this summer, I've committed to wrapping up some of my ongoing projects. I love starting projects, the excitement of committing to a plan and coming up with ideas. I'm not so great at finishing them.
One of those ongoing projects is my office. It has become a dumping ground for things that don't have a purpose or a place and I would really like it to become a functional space for us to use. When you are limited on square footage, you can't be wasting an entire room for junk. And the older I get, the more that clutter messes with my anxiety (it also puts some major stress on my relationship with my boyfriend as I fell in love with a clean freak).
One of the major holdups has been deciding on what kind of desk I want in the room. There is an entire wall that needs something and I seem to always be in need of more space for working (this room is going to be bounce back and forth between an office and a craft room so having extra tabletop space is important).
I probably shouldn't be in charge of planning out this design. Because while I want it to be functional for the space, it also has to be pretty. So I went down the rabbit hole that is Instagram and Pinterest and found some floating desk designs I absolutely love. I'll have to talk them through with my boyfriend -- he's the practical one and he also built our deck after watching YouTube videos so he'll play a big role in getting this done.
