Five Spots to Keep the Giving Momentum Going

We've got great ideas for how to keep giving back through the new year.
1. Become a Career Mentor for Single Moms
Do you remember how tough it was to get your first job out of college or having to explain a gap in your resume? Jeremiah Program seeks career mentors to assist moms who are returning to or entering the workforce. Parenting has taught these moms a thing or two about being a great leader and with your industry insight, thoughtful advice, and support from coaches, Jeremiah moms can launch their new skill set into a new career! Help Jeremiah moms create a robust and unified message of candidates' past academic, professional, and parenting journeys by helping:
-
Update their LinkedIn Profiles
-
Create Strong Resumes
-
Teach How to Story Tell in Interviews
Let's rewrite the narrative that keeps hiring managers from saying "yes" to all the super moms.
2. Sign Up to Pack Meals for Local Kids at Every Meal
Let kids be kids instead of worrying about where their next meal is coming from. Every Meal helps feed the 300,000 Minnesota youths who encounter food insecurities daily. When they don't have to worry about where the next meal comes from, kids have room to grow creatively, excel in school, and make childhood memories with friends. Get on the assembly line to pack bags of nutritious food or be there to deliver backpacks for kids to take home. If donating time is not your cup of tea, financial donations are also accepted.
3. Purchase groceries or cook meals for families at the Crisis Nursery
The Crisis Nursery connects parents and children to resources and adds reassurance where there might be none. Stressors like unemployment, homelessness, high medical costs, and other unfavorable conditions add extra baggage to parents. Knowing they don't have to worry about their next meal, or having a few days of safe childcare, can take one thing off their plate.
If you remember Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs from your middle school health class, you already know that people can reach higher when basic needs are met (like nutrition). Help lift families up when you donate your time.
4. Volunteer with seniors at Cerenity Senior Care
How do you make the most out of life? We bet you could learn a thing or two from those with years of experience.
From one-on-one visits and assisting with games and activities to performing music and chatting it up in the dining hall, Cerenity Senior Care is the perfect place to grow and connect. When you experience the laughter and youthful glow of a resident you've worked with, you'll fully appreciate why your time and support are so critically valued.
5. Serve meals or help in classrooms at People Serving People
Giving your time never leaves you feeling empty. People Serving People provides over 200,000 meals per year to children and families who do not have reliable food resources. You can team up with the Culinary Service Department to mix and batch together delicious food. Or, for a more hands-on experience, you can enrich lives by assisting K-12 teachers in the classroom.
Think about the last time a person inspired you. Now, think - you could be that inspiration for someone else.
