December Neighborhood Spotlight: Lowertown

Posted by VIBE Realty on Tuesday, December 20th, 2022 at 1:16pm.

Lowertown's holiday sights and sounds don't disappoint and we gathered up our favorites to share with you!

Union Depot

Address: 212 4th Street East St Paul, MN

Next stop? Union Depot, your one-stop-shop for the holidays.

Built in 1923, the depot was designed in the Beaux-Arts style and features stunning architecture and elegant details. And, it’s even more stunning this time of year.

Sparkling lights dangle from trees, as shoppers browse the authentic European Christmas hosted outside of the train station. Small businesses sell knitted caps, mittens, candles and other gifts that make you feel like “there’s no place like home”.

Get on board to warm holiday cheer! The trip to Union Depot is worth it for the crépes, hot chocolate, coffee and mulled wine.

Amsterdam Bar and Hall

Address: 6 West 6th Street, Wabasha St N, St Paul, MN 55102

Sip in the Atmosphere

From Beyoncé Disco parties to Jazz Fridays, the Amsterdam Bar and Hall is your go-to destination for vibrant music and entertainment in the heart of Saint Paul.

Catering to every crowd, the venue offers an array of live music and events. Some like it intimate, spotting (and cheering on) local or up-and-coming talent. Others prefer to stand front and center for their favorite national act.

Amsterdam Bar and Hall has a stocked bar and amazing line up for 2023, check it out here now.

Barrel Theory

Address: 248 East 7th Street Saint Paul, MN 55101

The Formula to the Perfect Beer

We have a theory that this might be the best brewery around. Founded by a team of passionate beer enthusiasts, Barrel Theory puts their heart and soul in crafting a high-quality and flavorful experience.

What’s their secret? Come try one of their many beers on tap. From classic styles like IPA and pale ale to more adventurous flavors like fruit-infused sours and barrel-aged brew, the incredible taste comes from only ingredient combos Barrel Theory knows about.

High glass much? Get a taste “well-crafted” when you go to one of their many beer sampling events.

Bullvinos SteakHouse

Address: 5121 W 98th St, Minneapolis, MN 55437

Steak? Yes please.

For a sizzling taste, try Bullvinos Brazilian Steakhouse. From a wide range of delicious red meat, and other flavorful cuts like pork, juicy chicken and lamb, Bullvino prides itself on having a full menu — making it hard to choose just one.

Perfect for a date night, holiday celebration or any other high class experience, restaurant-goers rave over the tropical cocktails and Brazilian beers. Add something hot to this cold holiday, when you taste the mouth-watering flavors of Brazil.

Address: 308 E Prince St #140, St Paul, MN 55101

Fresh, Mouth-Watering Japanese Cuisine

Some only go to Lowertown for Kyatchi’s delicious Japanese cuisine. Made from sustainable ingredients (those following the Monterey Bay Seafood Guidelines), the restaurant is a catch for seafood sides like sushi and sashimi and other meats like steamed-cooked teriyaki and tempura.

Cozy, not cramped, the restaurant is perfect for a date night. Order a cocktail (or two) and enjoy true Japanese taste in this hot spot in the heart of Lowertown.

City of Baseball Museum

Address: 360 Broadway Street Saint Paul, MN 55101

Visit America’s Pastime

A great decision on the fly. Check out America’s  beloved pastime in a museum filled with baseball memorabilia.

Did you know the St. Paul Saints date back to the 1800s? Take the kids or any avid ball-lover down a path of history with the museum's baseball-dusted uniforms, interactive exhibits and media presentations.

You won’t strike out when you get the family out of the house for this activity.

Nautilus Music-Theater

Powerful storytelling, bold performance? Say no more. Nautilus Music - Theater is for those looking to experience the true magic of live performance.
