2019 was a year for the books! Between working with incredible clients who have turned into close friends, to growing our team with knowledgable agents here at VIBE - we couldn't be more grateful for all that this past year has brought us. As we head towards 2020, we've been reflecting on areas for improvement, strength, and personal growth. Check out the New Year's Resolutions from our team below, and feel free to share your resolution with us as well!

Resolution: "To volunteer more often with my children, and to teach them to give back."

"2020! Before I had children, I was insistent to myself that I would make sure they learned to give back at an early age. I wanted them to understand that there is always a place to help…

It's approaching - the holiday season is just around the corner which calls for the busiest time of the year in retail. Between Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and the all of the stops at the mall leading up to December 25th, we surrender ourselves to a holiday shopping coma. But there is one national shopping day that is finally starting to get the recognition it deserves, and you might be rewarded for making room for this one — Small Business Saturday. Taking place the Saturday after Thanksgiving, we've lined up a couple of our favorite stops for holiday preparation, right here in our very own cherished neighborhood, Cathedral Hill. Support the local economy and show some small business love this holiday season.

While most of our listings are found in the residential neighborhoods around town, we're sure to hit the urban spots as well. Cue - Lowertown, Saint Paul - the vibrant artist's quarter. This historic hood with hip hangouts is a 16 block warehouse and wholesaling district comprised of buildings and properties built in the 1870's to 1920's. Talkin' about historic roots, Lowertown was originally the lower landing on the Mississippi River; the first port of access to the Twin Cities. Several warehouse, railroad, banking, and distribution buildings served this area. Now, it's becoming tastefully gentrified but still manages to keep its historic charm. This neighborhood makes for one of the trendier spots to call home, and consists of modern and industrial…

HGTV's "Urban Oasis," which has given away a free home every year, is coming to Minneapolis! The property is built out in Minneapolis' Hiawatha neighborhood, and Star Tribune reports that it's a two-story, Scandinavian-style farmhouse valued at $700,000 and packed with modern charm and located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. You can enter to win the house on HGTV's website. They are allowing 2 entries a day, (which may be a smart move considering last year the contest had over 65 million entries...woah.) The contest runs through November 21st! Best of luck!

ENTER HERE BY NOVEMBER 21ST, 2019!

Kicking off our Twin Cities neighborhood series, we're starting with one of our all time favorite spots in Saint Paul - Cathedral Hill, where Summit Avenue and Selby Avenue meet. And though we may be biased (since our office is located in the heart of Cathedral Hill), we never cease to appreciate all that this area has to offer - from the historical background, charming local businesses, and our friendly neighbors. Said by Visit Saint Paul "As if the Cathedral of Saint Paul was not regal enough, the ivy-covered facades and fine dining establishments on Cathedral Hill embellish one of the city's most charming areas." We couldn't agree more. Click here to check out listings in Cathedral Hill.

Adding Personality While Playing It Safe

There's no trend like an interior trend, and while it always seems like the right choice to stick to the straight and narrow when it comes to design, we've dubbed this year as the year for bold interiors (but done only with sophistication.) We're all about adding personality to a space (wallpapers, prints, and rich accents), and playing it safe with some of the more permanent design elements (cabinetry, backsplashes, counter tops.) Here's a few ways to support that approach:

Wallpaper - Most might see bold wallpaper as a risky interior move, but if…

Everyone knows timing is everything. Increasingly, fall is emerging as the best time to buy a house. There have been more than 32 million home sales since 2000 and it’s been found that buyers get the very best price in October. Rule of thumb that everyone seems to be familiar with though, is that Spring is typically the notorious time to buy a home. And while history has always seemed to favor that scenario, it seems that autumn has undeniable factors that just may contribute to the timing of your big purchase. The best time to buy a home is when market conditions are preferable, competition is low, and interest rates are on the decline. Here are a few expert insights as to why you should consider possibly investing in real estate this time of year.
